Abstract

817,296. Limiters. COLLINS RADIO CO. Oct. 9, 1956 [Feb. 27, 1956], No. 30779/56. Class 40 (6). A circuit for deriving an output signal corresponding to an input signal but in which all rates of change in excess of a predetermined value are limited to that value comprises two serially connected oppositely-poled diodes 5, 6 connected in parallel with serially-connected resistors 8, 9, the junction points of the diodes and the resistors being interconnected by a bias source which under no-signal conditions maintain small currents flowing in the diodes 5, 6. In the arrangement shown the input is an error signal derived in an electrical servo system, the output being developed across the capacitor 10. The current flowing into or out of the capacitor 10 cannot exceed the " nosignal " value of current flowing through the diodes 5, 6 and hence the rate of change of signal amplitude developed across the capacitor 10 is limited to a value dependent upon this " no-signal " value of current and the capacitance of the capacitor.
