816,778. Crimping fibres. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 16, 1956 [July 22, 1955], No. 21250/55. Class 120(3) In a crimping operation, polyethylene terephthalate filaments fed through a guide 10, positioned as close as possible to but not in contact with inwardly rotating nip rolls 13 and 14 and having a width less than the width of the rolls, are directed thereby in the form of a ribbon between the nip and thence to a stuffing box 16 from which the crimped material emerges against the pressure of a spring-loaded or weighted lid. As shown, the guide is a stainless steel block having a tapering elliptical (or oval or oblong) aperture 12 and shaped on the underside to the profile of the rolls. U.S.A. Specification 2,311,174 is referred to.
