Abstract

816,279. Injection moulding machines. WINDSOR Ltd., R. H. Oct. 3, 1957, No. 30994/57. Addition to 760,480. Class 87(2). The injection moulding machine of the parent Specification is provided with two intermeshing screws wherein a plurality of threads 3 at the output section of each screw substantially block the spaces between the adjacent threads of the other screw in the plane of the two screw axes, thereby preventing substantial backflow of thermoplastic material between the screws and enabling them to act as an effective ram when moved longitudinally in the injection cylinder. As shown, the threads are of constant pitch and diameter, but in the input section the leading surfaces 6 of the threads are cut back to form spaces 8.
