814,932. Wooden girders and trusses. LAFOSSE, R. Nov. 5, 1957, No. 34416/57. Class 20(4) A girder or truss comprises an upper arcuate beam 2 and a lower rectilinear beam 1, the beams extending from one end of the girder to the other end, a sheet metal member 17 at each end of the girder securing the beams to each other, vertical, wooden fibre, hardboard panels extending the whole height of the girder from one beam to the other to constitute a solid web 4, and vertical struts 3 having the ends thereof secured to the beams and retaining the panels. As shown, the web consists of panels 15, 16, joined face-toface and by an adhesive, and the vertical joints between the panels are staggered and coincident with the struts. The beams are formed by pairs of members 7, 8 and 10, 11 of substantially square cross-section and secured in place on either side of the web by bolts 12, and the struts comprising members 13, 14 are fastened by gluing and /or nailing. The members 17 prevent relative slipping of the beams and facilitate the bearing and fixation of the girder on supporting walls 5.
