Class 25 A swivelling type cowl comprises a vane assembly adapted to be pivotally supported in a chimney pot by means including a vertical pivot spindle which engages a blind hole in a boss located at or near the centre of gravity of the assembly. As shown, the vane assembly comprising a shield 1 and a vane 2 having a boss and set-screw 3, 12, is mounted on a spindle 4 supported by a framework having members 5, 7, and extending upwardly from a tubular member 6. This member is held within a chimney pot 8 by straps 9 the ends 11 of which are adapted to receive a binding wire.
