Abstract

683,839. Storage water heaters. FERRANTI, Ltd. June 11, 1951 [June 16, 1950], No. 15024/50. Class 64 (i) A storage water heater comprising a tank 10 surrounded by insulation lagging 16 is provided with a detachable outer casing 20 which protects but does not support the lagging. The heater is carried by a frame 15 mounted on a wall, the casing 20 being secured to the frame at two points only, viz: at or near its upper end by a locating pin 24, and at or near its lower end by a fixing screw 26. The casing is cut away at its lower end to clear the various controls and connections e.g. inlet valve 22 and outlet pipe 12. The lagging 16 may comprise granulated cork or glass-wool or slag-wool contained in a flexible envelope or it may comprise one or more self supporting blocks, shaped to fit the tank. The lagging may be retained in position by one or more metal straps 17.
