Means for attaching a non-rotatable cowl to a chimney pot or ventilation shaft comprises carrier elements 9, strip-like members, 10 slidably mounted upon the carrier elements, and a metal strap 11 which can be tightened. The cowl comprises four concave members 1 secured to a common top piece 4 and spaced by connecting pieces 3 to provide apertures 2. The carrier elements 9 are supported between the connecting pieces 3 and a frame 5 which is secured to the cowl by bolts and rivets at 7 and 8 respectively.
