814,506. Magnetic compositions. CENTRE NATIONALE DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTIFIQUE. April 26, 1957 [May 2, 1956], No. 13367/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (2). A ferromagnetic ceramic material comprises in mol. percentages: nickel oxide 13 to 20, chromic oxide 2 to 20, ferric oxide 30-50, the remainder being zinc oxide. Such material has a high ratio of angular rotation of plane of polarization to attenuation when used in waveguides such as phase shifters, switches, modulators, routing devices and separators. The manufacture of such materials having different proportions of constituent oxides in the above ranges is described. The oxides are ground, pressed, sintered at 1200 or 1250 C. for four hours in oxygen, and may be cooled in oxygen.
