Abstract
An alloy made by compacting and sintering powdered constituents has a composition within the following range in per cent by weight:-Ni at least 30.0; Cr 4.0-30.0; Ti 0.5-8.0; Al 0.3-8.0; C 0.01-0.5; B 0.01-0.8; Co 0-55.0; Fe 0-40.0; Zr 0-0.5; Mo 0-20.0; W 0-5.0; Nb and/or Ta 0-5.0. The production of an alloy is referred to by mixing carbonyl Ni powder and hydrogen-reduced Co powder, adding finely divided graphite and a powdered alloy of Cr, Co, Ti and Al and finally an alloy of Ni with 10 per cent B crushed to pass a 300 mesh screen. Compacts of the mixture are pressed at 40 tons/sq. in. and sintered in vacuo at 1300 DEG C. for 4 hours in a closed container sealed with a getter powder. The Provisional Specification describes similar alloys in which the B content is in the range 0.01-0.5 and in which Ni plus Co is at least 30.0.
