In a rotary pump of the flexible vane type, the cam 26 is provided with spaced fingers 34, 38 adapted to extend only part way across the inlet and outlet ports respectively in the peri. pheral direction in order to permit fibres 42 or crystals to pass into the outer blade spaces.
