813,055. Damping apparatus. DRUCKMASCHINENWERKE PLANETA V.E.B. Jan. 25, 1956, No. 2439/56. Class 100(2) In a dampening mechanism for planographic printing machines in which the dampening liquid, taken by means of an immersion roller 1 out of a water container 2 passes over a transferring roller 5, a water distributer cylinder 7 and adjoining dampening rollers 8 to a plate cylinder 9 and in which the speed of the immersion roller can be regulated, the immersion roller is eccentrically mounted so that it can approach near to the transferring roller sufficiently for the delivery of a film of moisture. The roller 1 is provided with eccentric bearings and the roller 5 is mounted on levers 4 pivoted to bearing plates 12. The gap between the rollers 1 and 5 when they are in their closest positions to each other is adjusted in accordance with the speed of the machine, so that efficient water transfer takes place, by means of screws 13 which bear on the plates 12, the roller 5 being in contact with the roller 7. In the event of a faulty supply rotation of a shaft 14 carrying an eccentric 15 operates linkage 16, 17-20 so as to turn a lever 21 so that adjustable screws 22 bear on the levers 4 to move the roller 5 out of contact with the roller 7. The linkage may be operated manually by means of a hand lever 23.
