Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to eliminate air bubbles generated in a water fountain in a device which supplies damping water to a plate, by causing a metering roller which is rotated being contacted with a fountain roller which rotates in the damping water to rotate at a peripheral speed of 1.5 to 2 times faster than that of the fountain roller. CONSTITUTION:A fountain roller 53 generates air bubbles in the damping water 55, especially such water 55 that is mixed with some alcohol for accelerating the evaporation of water, as it stirs water. However, as it is composed so that the peripheral speed of a metering roller 58 becomes 1.5 to 2 times faster than that of the fountain roller 53, air bubbles generated are eliminated at the contact point of both rollers 58, 53 as they slip each other at the point, and damping water is transferred through a transfer roller 17, a damping roller 29 and a plate cylinder 12 and then supplied to the contact portion between a plate and an inking roller 13.
