Abstract

Copolymers of styrene and acrylonitrile containing up to 40 per cent by weight of the latter are stabilized by the addition thereto of between 0.005 and 5.0 per cent of a hydroxyalkyl derivative of an alkylene diamine, for example the compounds obtained by condensing propylene oxide with ethylene, propylene, butylene, trimethylene and hexamethylene diamines, e.g. N,N,N1, N1-tetrakis-(2-hydroxypropyl) ethylene diamine. Also present in the compositions may be dioctyl phthalate as a plasticizer.
