Abstract

811,606. Vehicle wheels. MACKENZIE, D. M. March 26, 1957, No. 9812/57. Class 144(2). A disc wheel carrying a tubeless pneumatic tyre has an inflating air tube or duct 1 disposed on the inboard side of the wheel and extending from the rim 2, where it communicates with the tyre space, to a position near the axial centre of the wheel where it terminates in an inflation valve 8 which is protected and concealed by a hub cap 9 of the wheel. The tube may be of flexible rubber or plastic with circumferentially grooved or collared ends to seal into the rim and wheel disc apertures 5, 4 respectively, or it may be of metal, welded into the apertures and bent to conform with the wheel disc contour.
