Abstract

811,387. Lamp posts. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Sept. 3, 1957 [Sept. 7, 1956], No. 27512/56. Class 20(1) A steel sleeve 5 is secured in the concrete base 1 of a street lamp standard during moulding and forms a socket in which a tubular metal column 6 is secured detachably, e.g. by a nut 8 on a threaded end 7 of the column. As shown, lugs 9 on a galvanized column 6 engage in depressions in the top of the sleeve 5. Instead of the lugs 9, a shoulder of plane or frusto-conical shape or a ridge may be formed on the column 6 to bear on the upper end of the sleeve 5 or on an intervening washer. Control gear for the lamp is housed in a cavity 3 in the concrete base 1.
