Classes 120(2): and 120(3) In a device for producing multifilamentary "looped" yarn comprising a tubular treatment 'chamber having an axial thread supply inlet and a discharge opening at opposite ends thereof, a gas supply system debouching sideways of. the inlet and a baffle mounted near the opening, the gas supply system comprises one or more channels debouching tangentially in the chamber at the inlet. In the device shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a casing 1 has a bore 2 screw-threaded to house adjustably a thread inlet 18 and a nipple 5 having a bore 9, serving as a swirl chamber ,and a conical widening 8 against which a spring 19 urges a bushing 10 through ports 12 and channels 13 of which flows compressed air introduced through a bore 20. The end of the chamber may be closed e.g. by adaptatation of a baffle 25, and have a lateral, yarn outlet opening. Another construction, Figs. 3 and 4, comprises a bushing 10 in which gas inlet ports 12 end in an annular groove 28 and communicate through channels 29 with a comical widening 30 of the bore 9. The thread inlet 18, adjustably housed in a hollow screw 32, has a tube porton 34 fitting within a bore 31 of the bushing 10. The cross-section of the chamber 9 has a larger area than the total area of the smallest cross-sections of the blowing channels. The swirling motion of the gas may be in the same sense as or opposite to the sense of the twist in the yarn to maintain or lessen the twist therein during treatment.
