Class 79(3) The axle 2, Figs. 1 and 2, of an electrically driven vehicle is surrounded by a sleeve 1 having one or more integral flanges 3 or protruberances removably secured by screws 5 or the like to a motor carcase 4 having flange parts 8 engaging over the flanges 3. The screws 5 are thus relieved from shearing stress while keys 9 relieve them of tensile stress due to separating forces in the gears. The flanges 3 may, as shown, consist of two separate pairs of flanges or they may consist of continuous flanges extending nearly the full length of the sleeve which may be made as a one-piece tubular member instead of in two bolted-together parts, as shown. Fig. 4 shows a modified construction in which one flange 11<SP>1</SP> may be omitted, the carcase resting against the sleeve, or resilient or insulating pads may be interposed between the flanges 11, 13 and 11<SP>1</SP>, 13'. The bolt holders in the flanges 11, 11<SP>1</SP> may be elongated so that the carcase may move in the direction of the sleeve axis. Distance sleeves are provided between the flanges and the bolt heads and a resilient pad may be provided between an enlargement of the sleeve and one side of the flange to cushion the endwise movement.
