Abstract
810,899. Telescopes. LEITZ G.m.b.H., E. March' 19; 1957 [March 22, 1956], No. 8974/57. Class 97(1) A telescope comprises two concave prisms arranged opposite each other to constitute respectively an objective and an eyepiece and two plane mirrors arranged in the planes of intermediate real images, a graticule being provided on one of the plane mirrors. As shown in Fig. 1 the mirrors are formed by the spherical surfaces of two plano-convex lenses 2, 3 secured to a prism 1 having reflecting portions 4, 5 forming the plane mirrors. Light from a distant object passes through one end face of the prism and focused by the part 2<SP>1</SP> of the mirror-lens 2 on to the plane mirror 4 which carries the graticule. The light reflected by the mirror 4 is focused by the portion 2<SP>11</SP> of mirror lens 2 and portion 3<SP>1</SP> of mirror-lens 3 on to the plane mirror 5 and the image formed thereat'is varied by reflection in the portion 3<SP>11</SP> of the lens 3. In a modification the prism 1 is triangular in section and the mirrors 2, 3 are relatively inclined on opposite ends thereof.
