810,860. Hypodermic syringes. HENNIG, J., and DELHEY, J., [trading as ROTA APPARATEUND MASCHINENBAU Dr. HENNIG K.G. AACHEN WERK WEHR BADEN]. Nov. 12, 1956 [Nov. 12, 1955], No. 34475/56. Class 81 (2). A syringe ampoule comprises a tubular glass body with a neck 1 and an integral tube 1a enclosing a hypodermic needle 3, an element 2 made of material other than glass holding the needle 3 stationary in the neck 1 and forming a fluid-tight seal. The sealing element 2 is made of synthetic resin such as polystyrene, ceramics or rubber, and after warming is allowed to shrink on to the needle 3. The sealing element may have projections which engage corresponding recesses in the neck 1 of the ampoule, may be introduced into the neck when soft and harden in situ when made of polymerizable synthetic resin or plaster of Paris, may be inserted in the neck whilst its diameter is elastically reduced or may have an internal space containing a substance which liberates gas, e.g. on being heated, so that it is effectively sealed to the neck 1.
