Abstract
809,885. Phase-sensitive circuits. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Feb. 1, 1957 [Feb. 17, 1956], No. 3666/57. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XL (c)] A radio compass (see Group XL (c)) includes a radio-frequency or an audio-frequency phasesensitive circuit to provide a D.C. output signal which is positive or negative depending on whether waveform, Fig. 9 (d), or Fig. 9 (e), respectively (or their detected equivalents) is present at the input. Radio-frequency circuit (see Figs. 6 and 9). A ten c/s voltage (see Fig. 9 (b)) is applied at terminal 53 and the receiver, i.f. output at terminal 40; on the positive-going half-cycles of the 10 c/s voltage the positive-going excursions of the receiver output are detected and vice versa, the circuit output being averaged over the long time-constant of resistor 44 and capacitor 55. Audio-frequency circuit (see Figs. 7 and 9).- The receiver second detector output is applied at terminal 60 and the ten c/s. voltage at terminal 64; when the input is the envelope of waveform, (Fig. 9 (d), the average output at the grid of valve 77 over the long time-constant of resistor 44 and capacitor 55 is negative and when that of Fig. 9(e) positive. Valve 77 inverts this output to give the same sense at terminal 46 as in the previous circuit.
