Abstract
A composite wire with a copper or copper alloy core and an external sleeve of aluminium or aluminium alloy is enamelled in a tower at a temperature of 400 DEG C., which temperature anneals the wire while it is being coated with enamel. The wire may be anodized prior to coating or alternatively may be anodized only. Suitable enamels include polyvinyl formalphenolic wire enamels, silicone enamels, silicone-polyester amide enamels and emulsions of polytetrafluorethylene.
