Abstract

809,574. Photo-electric control systems. SVENSKA AKTIEBOLAGET GASACCUMULATOR. Jan. 2, 1957 [Jan. 26, 1956], No. 183/57. Class 40 (3). In the control of the brightness of signal lights, particularly road traffic signals, by the variation of the general lighting and by approaching car &c. lights, a photo-cell 8 in employed in conjunction with a transductor 19-21, a transistor or a relay which shortcircuits a resistor in the circuit of a lamp 1. The circuit also includes a variable resistor 9. In a modification, Fig. 6, two photo-electric cells 81, 8<SP>11</SP> to receive light from directions 14, 13 are arranged in series with a non-linear resistor 26 and a variable resistor 9. In another form, light from two directions falls on a single photo-cell, on adjustable shutter being provided from one direction. The cell 8 is screened from direct sunlight.
