808,867. Muscular tests. SOKOL, K. Nov. 12, 1956 [Nov. 11, 1955; July 19, 1956], No. 34587/56. Class 81 (2). An appliance for measuring the strength of vaginal and sphineter muscles comprises an inflatable sac 10 which, after insertion, is inflated by a bulb 17 to a desired pressure, as indicated by a gauge 14. Voluntary contraction of the muscles then causes a measurable increase in pressure, as again indicated by the gauge. A covering sheath 19, which may carry lubricant or medicament, may be provided. In a more elaborate arrangement, see Fig. 2 (not shown), the inflatable sac is divided into a plurality of compartments which can be separately inflated from a cylinder of compressed gas. In this case separate pressure gauges are provided for the various compartments and graduated cylinders are used for measuring the volume of the cavity.
