Abstract
808,590. Endless-chain conveyers. MEYER MANUFACTURING CO., G. J. Sept. 21, 1956 [Dec. 12, 1955], No. 28901/56. Class 78 (1). A conveyer for handling containers, e.g. bottles which have been unloaded from a case by a machine, comprises a conveyer 58, Fig. 1, passed round end sprockets 48, 54 and a parallel conveyer 59 passed round end sprockets 49, 55, the sprockets 48, 49 being free on the shaft 45 and the sprockets 54, 55 fast on the shaft 53 and the shaft 45 being driven and connected to the shaft 53 by chain-and-sprocket gearing. The shaft 45 is connected by similar gearing to a power-driven shaft 11 which is carried on the movable components of a half-depth case unloader and travels along the path indicated by the adjacent arrows in Fig. 2 when adjustments are made to accommodate bottles of various sizes. The chain connecting the shafts 45, 11 is kept tensioned by passing it round a sprocket 13 carried by a pivoted arm 16 which is urged downwards by a spring 24. Standards 42 secured to the side-walls of the conveyer support guide rails 43, 44 which preferably are semicylindrical in shape. The lower run of the conveyer passes over rollers 68, 69 mounted in a tray containing soapsuds or other lubricant.
