Abstract

807,950. Shovelling machines. BODIN, S. A. O. Oct. 11, 1957, No. 31867/57. Class 68(1) A bucket for a loading, machine is characterized in that the bucket is open sided. Fig. 2 shows a vertical section through the bucket on a plane parallel to the direction of digging. The bucket consists of an inner metal plate 20 and an outer metal plate 21 spaced apart by strengthening webs 22. An hydraulic cylinder assembly 11 rotates the pivot shaft 10 through a crank mechanism and tilts the bucket laterally to discharge the contents. Fig. 7 is a section through the bucket at right-angles to the direction of digging and shows the shape of the bottom of the bucket. The height H to the edges of the bucket is stated to be between B/# and B/5 where B is the width of the bucket, prefer- ably the ratio should be between B/60 and B/8. The height to the points 33 may also be defined by reference to the angle Ï, between the flat central part of the bucket and a line drawn from the centre of the bucket to the point 33. Preferred values of this angle are given for use when shovelling various materials. The depth of the bucket should be greater than 10 per cent of the width and preferably greater than 15 per cent. Instead of being composed of three flat surfaces the bottom of the bucket may be curved up at the sides and examples are given of cross-sectional shapes different from that shown in Fig. 2.
