Abstract

1,167,821. Slewing bearings for jib-cranes. KLOCKNER-WERKE A.G. 6 Jan., 1967, No. 970/67. Heading B8B. [Also in Divisions E1 and F2] A jib-crane has a slewing bearing which incorporates a resilient ring 24, Fig. 3, between bearing surface 23 of a slewing platform 2 and the upper surface of the upper part 15 of the race which rotates with the platform 2. This enables the platform 2 to tilt when the centre of gravity of the load moves outside the slewing ring, thereby deforming the race and spreading the load over more balls in the race. Fig. 4 shows an embodiment which has two resilient rings 24, 38. The resilient rings may be of metal having a smaller modulus of elasticity then steel, synthetic plastics materials, hard wood or an assembly of spring steel rings. Fig. 5 (not shown), illustrates the latter.
