Abstract

1,179,174. Bearings. KLOCKNER-WERKE A.G. 18 Jan., 1967, No. 2612/67. Heading F2A. [Also in Divisions B8 and E1] A rolling bearing in an excavator, crane or conveyer comprises two races 13, 15 which rotate with an upper carriage, one said race having a pivot edge on which the upper carriage may tilt, the pivot edge being nearer the bearing axis than the inner point of contact between the race and elements. In Fig. 2 there is axial play between race 13 and race 15 which is secured by web 17 to upper carriage 2, and an intermediate race 9 is secured to a lower carriage 3. When carriage 2 tilts downwards at the jib side A race 13 remains in contact with all the balls of the upper row to distribute the downward load. Sufficient balls of the lower row engage races 9, 15 to bear the small upward load. A pivot edge may be provided on a lower race (Fig. 3, not shown).
