Abstract
807,133. Electric lamps; lighting fittings. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 31, 1956 [Feb. 2,1955], No. 3071/56. Drawings to Specification. Classes 39(2) and 75(2) [Also in Group XL(a)] Lighting devices such as electric lamp bulbs or discharge tubes, light emitting fittings, and ultralviolet radiators, are made of soft glass which will withstand a temperature of more than 150 ‹C. during the operation of the device and are protected against albrupt variations in stress, due to contact with rain or moisture while hot, by coating the glass with a light-pervious layer of silicone lacquer of a thickness of more than 15u, preferably more than 20u, the coated surface being subsequently heat treated in a muffle furnace. A coating composition of silicone lacquer and a plasticizer such as a silicone resin or silicone grease may be used. The subsequent heat treatment in a muffle furnace is effected at a temperature of, for example, 225‹C.
