The bushing assembly disclosed in the parent Specification is modified in that the yieldable layer 2 is discontinuous in its length so that at an intermediate part 3 of the assembly the bushing 5 is applied directly to the conductor 1. The yieldable layer 2 may be insulating, with a conductive coating 4, or conductive as disclosed in Specification 806,955.
