Class 36 In a glass insulator 1 for use with high-voltage power lines, the head 2 of the insulatingportion is of a thickness such that it acts as the dielectric of a capacitor of such capacitance that the operative impedance of the bead is not more than that of the exposed part of the insulator under atmospheric conditions. A cap 6 and pin 7 are cemented to the insulator by a cement which may have sufficient conductance to bring the bead of the insulation portion into electrical connection with the cap and pin. Alternatively the surfaces of the bead may be metallized and connected by wires to the cap and pin. A number of such insulators may be flexibly or rigidly joined together to form an assembly and a number of these assemblies may be flexibly joined together. Specification 856,042 is referred to.
