Abstract

<PICT:0806230/III/1> <PICT:0806230/III/2> <PICT:0806230/III/3> Internal-combustion engine fuels passing through a non-metallic tube 13, Fig. 3, are subjected to the action of an intermittent electric current passed through series windings 11, 12 of a coil having a make-and-break formed by a mechanical or electrical vibrator or a contact 22 in parallel with a condenser 30 and operated by a cam 23 driven by a motor M. The coil and motor are fed from a battery or, optionally via a rectifier 31, from an alternating current source 21, a manual control switch 26 being provided. Viscous liquid fuels such as diesel oil are passed directly through the tube 13 but gaseous or light liquid fuels are caused to flow in an extended path 71, Fig. 7, or turbulently as in Fig. 5 where pipe unions 51, 50 of magnetic material co-act with a lead liner 52 into which passages 53 discharge divergently. In Fig. 6 (not shown), an extended path is provided by coaxial spaced cylinders within the tube 13 and through which the fuel flows alternately in opposite directions.
