Abstract
805,224. Gathering ground-nuts. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Aug. 3, 1956 [Aug. 4, 1955], No. 22409/55. Class 6(3). An apparatus for stripping ground-nuts from the parent plants comprises a conveyer 16 which carries the plants into a narrow space between two rotary beaters 32 which strip the nuts from the stems. The conveyer comprises a pair of juxtaposed contacting belts pressed together by spring-urged rollers 22, 23, the plants being excavated and fed to the belts by a share 11, as in Specification 748,547. As shown, both stripping members are Y-shaped beaters 32 driven by a belt 34 from mechanism 19 which is driven from the tractor pulling the machine over the ground. The stripped nuts fall into a receptacle 25 and the plants are discharged into a second receptacle (not shown).
