Abstract
A fixing plate for glueing to a smooth surface is made by covering a face of the plate with a layer at least partially composed of a synthetic plastics material, which is hardened, and over which is spread a layer of a glue which solidifies thereon but remains softenable, the synthetic plastics material being such that, after hardening, it adheres strongly both to the plate and to the glue. The plate may carry a hook, knob or screw and may be of nylon having integrally moulded to it a stem, which is threaded to receive a nut. The synthetic plastics material may be a syrupy mixture constituting a thermosetting resin, e.g. that known under the Registered Trade Mark "Sader R12," and may be applied by brushing, by rollers, by spraying or by dipping, and polymerized by heat. The glue may be a water-soluble fish glue.
