804,475. Duplex radio signalling. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRPAH CO., Ltd. Dec. 20, 1956 [March 14, 1956], No. 8025/56. Class 40 (5). In a compatible colour television system employing an amplitude-modulated sound carrier of frequency fs the relationship necessary to obtain compatibility (i.e. nfL = fv -fs) between the line scanning frequency fL and the difference between the vision and sound carrier frequencies fv - fs is obtained by applying the composite vision signal produced by the camera chain 1 and the colour information to transmitter 2 and to synchronizing pulse separator 3. The output fL of circuit 3 is applied to frequency multiplier 4, the multiplier output nfL being applied to mixer 5 whose other input is a sound carrier fs derived from modulator 7 and transmitter 6. The output of mixer 5fv is applied as the carrier input to the vision signal transmitter 2. The multiplication factor n is chosen to satisfy the equation nfL = fv - fs.
