480,847. Wireless signalling systems. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE. July 20, 1937, No. 20089. Convention date, July 20, 1936. [Class 40 (v)] In a suppressed carrier system in which preferably only a single sideband is transmitted the carrier is, before suppression at the transmitter, modulated with two synchronizing frequencies in a predetermined ratio. At the receiver the resultant two synchronizing frequencies are compared to give an indication or used to control the local carrier generator. The synchronizing frequencies may be 25 and 50 cycles per second when a small error in the re-supplied carrier will produce a large change in the ratio of the frequencies. The frequencies may be multiplied so as to be equal and applied to a phase measuring bridge circuit or may be used to control synchronous motors. At the transmitter the synchronizing frequencies may be obtained from one another or from a third frequency by multiplication or division of frequency. The synchronizing frequencies may lie outside the frequency limits of the signal or be inserted in frequency gaps in the signal.
