803,939. Siphon-discharge water-waste-preventers. SOC. D'ETUDES ET D'APPLICATIONS DE PROCEDES NOUVEAUX. June 18, 1957, No. 19140/57. Class 26. A siphon for flushing tanks comprises a rigid chamber 12 with an open lower end, a flexible priming tube connected to the coupling 1 (clamped to the tank 18) the end 8a generally above the water level being attached to the roof thereof so as to provide a space 12a, and an arm 13 fastened to the chamber 12 to prime the siphon by pivoting about the point of attachment of the tube to the tank 18. The tube comprises a sheath 8 which covers a rust-proof coiled spring 5 fixed to the rim 2 of the coupling 1 and is sealingly attached to a collar 4 thereon. The spring is bent at 6 about a pin 7 attached to the lever 13 to which is fastened a chain 22 passing through a grommet 23 and having a handle 24. On pulling the chain 22 the flush is initiated as shown by the arrow F1 in Fig. 3 and proceeds as similarly shown in Fig. 4, the counter-weight 17 facilitating return to the vertical position. A detachable elastic apron 15 covers an opening 14 in the chamber 12, which yields when the tube is pivotally moved, but cannot enter the opening 14 because of a fixed guard 10 on a clip 9 holding the sheath 8 in place.
