Abstract

803,856. Roller bearing cages. TORRING- TON CO. May 28, 1957 [Feb. 14, 1957], No. 16838/57. Class 12 (1). A roller bearing cage comprises a thin-walled cylindrical member 7 having parallel spaced cross-bars 9, forming separate pockets for individual rollers 5, and continuous circular ends 8 on which grooved collars 10 are fitted. The collars 10 have diverging flanges 12, 13 which carry axially extending tabs 14, 15 which lie close to the ends of the rollers and prevent the rollers from falling out of the cage. The tabs 14 or 15 may rest upon their adjacent raceway so as to support the cage frictionally in the pitch line of the rollers. For assembly, the collars 10 are merely forced on to the ends of the cylindrical member 7.
