Class 68(1) The front apron 22 of a bowl-type earth scraper is raised by a hydraulic jack 54, 56 acting on a two-part lever 36, 38 that in turn acts on a cable 68 extending between the draft yoke 4 of the scraper and the apron. The jack 54, 56 is pivoted to the yoke at 60 and to the lever part 36 at 53. Angular movement of the lever part 38 pivoted at 30 on the yoke 4 is limited by an abutment 52 on the yoke. Relative movement of the lever part 36 in the opposite direction to that of lever part 38 is limited by stop 44. Extension of the jack to raise the apron results in the two parts moving anticlockwise together at first and then the second part only moving so that the velocity ratio of the apronopening mechanism is reduced as the apron is raised.
