Abstract

Raw rubber in crepe or sheet form, and which has a reduced tendency to shrink longitudinally and swell laterally when calendered, is prepared by coagulating a mixture of unvulcanized natural rubber latex and vulcanized latex from which excess vulcanizing ingredients have been removed by centrifuging. The proportion of vulcanized latex in the mixture is such that the product contains 5 to 80, and preferably 15 to 30 per cent by weight of vulcanized rubber. The vulcanized latex is preferably prepared by sulphur vulcanization.
