Abstract
Powdered borides of titanium, zirconium, tantalum or niobium or a mixture of two or more thereof are subjected to a compacting and sintering operation in a suitably shaped graphite die. A pressure of the order of one ton per square inch is maintained whilst heating the powder to about 2000 DEG C. for one hour, and during subsequent cooling, in a protective atmosphere. Carbon may be coated with the sintered boride The mixture is useful for electrolytic cell leads or cathodes. Specifications 784,695, 784,696, and 802,471 are referred to.
