A laminated structural unit comprises a core 2a of compressed fibrous material such as glass fibres impregnated with a thermosetting synthetic resin, and facings of expanded metal sheets 3a, 5, the sheet 5 having a sheet 6 of corrugated steel welded to it. The expanded metal sheet 3a may be flattened or unflattened, and the core 2a may be longitudinally reinforced with embedded rods, angles, or channels.
