Class 108(1) A combined wheel chair and couch comprises a rigid cradle, Fig. 2, of skkeleton construction; an articulated component, Fig. 3, comprising a back rest frame 32, 34, 36, a seat frame 38, 40, 44, and a leg rest frame 46, 48, the back rest and seat frames being articulated to one another and to the cradle about a transverse axis 60 offset above the plane of said frames (when mutually aligned to form a couch) and the seat and leg rest frames being mutually articulated about a transverse axis 66 and supported from the cradle by means 28 enabling the height of this axis 66 to be adjusted; a foot rest 70 adjustably mounted on the leg rest frame; adjustable strut means 50, 56 determining the inclinations of the back rest frame and of the leg rest frame, said means being anchored to the cradle; four rigid fork structures 80 pivotally connected in pairs, about transverse axes with the cradle at the head and foot ends respectively and detachably connected to spring suspension means mounted centrally of the cradle, each such fork structure having a running wheel 76 mounted therein. One pair of the wheels I have hub type or other brakes (not shown) controlled by a sheathed cable from a hand lever on handle - bar 20, the rigid fork structures 80 may be rotated through 180 degrees approximately enabling the cradle to rest on the ground, or they can be completely removed by sliding tubular members 82 off the ends of member 12. Loose cushions 98, 100 and 102 are fitted over the continuous spring mattress, Fig. 4 (not shown), comprising interconnected tension springs stretched across the complete frame formed by tubes 32, 38, 40, 46.
