Abstract

A liquid pharmaceutical preparation for treating diseases of the skin caused by fungi and/or yeasts, e.g. athlete's foot, comprises a solution of methyl salicylate, salicylic acid, boric acid, undecylenic acid and a local anaesthetic in a mixture of methyl and propyl alcohols. It is alleged that on admixing the ingredients a chemical change takes place, resulting in esterification of the undecylenic acid to a methyl salicylate ester of undecylenic acid and methyl and propyl undecylenates and that these esters penetrate more deeply into the affected areas of the skin, there being also a synergistic effect.
