Abstract
801,664. Shearing. WUPPERMANN G.m.b.H., T. Oct. 10, 1955 [Oct. 8, 1954], No. 28830/55. Class 83 (4). Each of the blades 1 of a flying shear is mounted in a frame 2 to which a sudden movement in the direction of feed of the work is imparted upon the release of a source of power, the cutting movement of the blades 1 being derived from the movement of the frames 2. The frames 2 have racks 11 intergeared to ensure that the frames are moved simultaneously and at the same speed. Each frame 2 is connected to a piston in a cylinder 8 permanently connected to a large compressed air container, and when a detout 10 is removed the frames 2 are suddenly actuated. The blades 1 are mounted on toggles 4 actuated when fixed pins 7 engage one end of slots 6 in a rod 5 to effect shearing. The toggles 4 pass through the straight position to the position reverse of that shown and the blades are withdrawn. When the pistons are retracted by an auxiliary supply of compressed air the blades 1 remain withdrawn until the pins 7 engage the other ends of the slots 6.
