801,061. Water-closet systems. PURVIS, A. S., and MOORE, C. Jan. 13, 1955, No. 1030/55. Class 26. The freezing of water in the supply pipe B of a water-closet system is prevented by the provision of a valve C which, when the cisterns 1 are all full, shuts off main supply pipe E from the pipe B and connects the latter to drain F, and when any of the cisterns is emptied to close an associated float-actuated switch is actuated by an electromagnet 9 to close off drain F and put pipe E in coommunication with pipe B. A non-return valve D at the top of pipe B admits air to the latter to enable water to drain into F when the cisterns are full ; in an alternative installation pipe B slopes downwardly to the cisterns and is drained by the admission of air at F and the provision of a discharge valve against the cisterns which is closed when pipe B is at mains pressure but opens when it is put into communication with F and the pressure falls.
