Abstract
800,267. Liquefaction of gases. BRITISH OXYGEN CO., Ltd. June 7, 1957 [June 11, 1956], No. 17967/56. Class 8(2). Liquefaction of gas stored at high pressure in a plurality of containers 1, 2 is effected by discharging each container in turn through a line 7 and a heat exchanger 8 traversed by an unliquefied portion of the gas after expansion at a valve 9 and separation of the liquefied portion in a receiver 10; the residual cold in said unliquefied portion leaving the heat exchanger 8 through a duct 11 being utilised in a coil 12 within one or more of the remaining charged containers to effect cooling thereof. The low pressure gas leaving the coil or coils 12 is recompressed and fed to an empty container. Each container is insulated and is constructed of low heat capacity light weight material e.g. glass fibre.
