Abstract

799,941. Rolling. DAVY & UNITED ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Jan. 15, 1957 [Jan. 19, 1956], No. 1888/56. Class 83 (4). A turn-over gear for rolled steel sections 32, Fig. 1, being fed along skid rails 31 comprises a carriage 1 movable between the skid rails and having a pivoted lifting member 4 to engage and lift one edge of the sections when located in the correct relative position by means of a pusher 18. The carriage 1 is moved along rails 27 by ropes 35 and at the position for turning over the work a roller 9 on the lifting member 4 engages a ramp 30 as it moves to the right so that it is rotated about its pivot 5 and engages the edge of the section 32 in a recess 12. Location of the section is provided by a face 25 on the pusher 14 and during the return stroke a sloping face 28 engages the next section so that the member 18 pivots about its support 19 in a notch 21 and passes under the section. A second position for the pusher 18 is provided by a notch 20 and when placed in this position the pusher 18 keeps the sections out of the path of movement of the lifting member 4 to render it non-effective.
