Abstract

799,664. Ironing presses. JAXONS (HILLINGTON), Ltd., and JACK, W. Sept. 26, 1955 [June 26, 1954; Sept. 16, 1954], Nos. 18818/54 and 26846/54. Class 138 (2). A garment pressing machine includes a head (not shown) and a buck assembly incorporating a buck 1 and at least one fin 2 movable outwardly from the buck whereby to increase the effective width of the buck assembly, the fin being so located that the distance between peripheral points on opposite sides of the buck assembly measured across one face of the buck assembly is appreciably greater than the distance between the same peripheral points measured across the opposite face of the buck assembly. Two fins are preferably provided and each is connected at both ends by a link 3 to an arm 4 pivoted at 5. The fins 2 are resiliently mounted on the buck 1 by means of members 6 passing through slots 7 in the links 3 and biased upwardly by springs 8. The fins may carry their own heating means and may be manually or power operated. Leaf springs may be used in place of the helical springs 8. The fins may be covered and/or located within a general covering including the buck. Specification 686,467 is referred to.
