Abstract
799,585. Pneumatic conveyers on vehicles. MANN EGERTON & CO., Ltd. Jan. 8, 1957 [Dec. 7, 1955], No. 35177/55. Class 78 (4). Two or more bins 6 (Fig. 5) on a vehicle deliver through manuallyoperated shutters 12 to a trough 10 through which the material is conveyed to a feeder 19 (Fig. 1) which feeds the material into air trunking 22 while preventing the air from impeding the feed of material from the trough 10. As illustrated, the feeder 19 comprises a paddle wheel 24 (Fig. 9), which carries the material opposite a pipe 20 carrying air from a blower 21 (Fig. 1). The material is conveyed along the trough 10 by a worm 18, and the worm 18, feeder 19 and blower 21 are driven through belting 27 and a shaft 28 from the gear-box 25 of the vehicle. The drive to the worm 18 preferably includes an epicyclie reduction gear and a slipping clutch. A throttle 42 controlling the vehicle engine is mounted adjacent a tachometer dial 40 showing the speed of the conveyer 18 and a gauge 41 showing the outlet pressure of the blower 21. An inspection window 43 is provided above the feeder 19. In the form illustrated, four bins 3 ... 6 with their associated conveying equipment are provided as a unit for attachment to an existing chassis and each gate 12 is operated through a screw 14.
