Abstract
973,968. Pneumatic conveyers; shoots. E. WEICHEL. May 30, 1961 [Nov. 15, 1960], No. 19446/61. Headings B8A and B8S. A distributer for evenly spreading material delivered from a pneumatic conveyer pipe 2 (Fig. 1) comprises a flexible or articulated deflector flap 19 rotatably mounted on the pipe 2 and continuously adjusted angularly to vary the throw as it rotates. The flap 19 is powered by a windmill runner 42 mounted partly within the air stream and driving a reduction gear 32 attached to the annular race 16 from which the flap 19 depends. The race 16 is rotatably supported by rollers 15 on the underside of a fixed race 38 at the lower end of the conveyer pipe 2 and is driven by friction roller 33 on a vertical output shaft 26 of the reduction gear 32 and yieldingly engaged with the fixed race 38. The flap. 19 is raised and lowered through tension cables 27 actuated from a slow speed ratchet and cam gear 40 to which the cables are hooked at 39. The apparatus is adapted for filling rectangular storage vessels by the attachment of cam racks 67 to the fixed race 38, engageable by pinions 68 on the gear output shaft 26. The rate of rotation of the flap 19 is thereby reduced in the region of the racks 67 and the flap 19 is simultaneously raised due to the radially outward movement of the gear-box 32 and cam assembly 40.
